Local to-do: First-ever ShiftMob

Thanks again to Greenward (how I love them), I have been alerted to a cool event tonight and future nights. It’s a movement called ShiftMob organized by the 10% Shift and the goal is to get New Englanders to shift to buying at least 10% of their purchases from local businesses. They also recognize businesses with sustainable products and sustainable practices.  So the first ShiftMob is tonight at Harvest Co-op in Central Square. It’s not just “come and shop;” there will be local music acts, some speeches, and samplings of “delightful local foods.” It runs from 5-9pm.  We’re out of milk, so I’ll be there.  Because I think that’s somewhat the point of what ShiftMob is trying to accomplish: spending my $3 on milk at a local business on milk from a local cow.  I can do that.
